Operating three sugar mills located in close proximity to the tropical city of Mackay, Mackay Sugar is Australia’s second largest sugar producer and is moving progressively towards the establishment of co-generation and ethanol operations.

A number of excellent opportunities are available for trade qualified Mechanical Fitters to join their maintenance teams connected with the three sugar milling sites and their cane rail division.

Sugar milling operations run on a continuous 24 X 7 basis for around six months of the year. During the balance of the year, normally between May to November, when sugar mills are shut, major upgrading and maintenance work is carried out on a wide range of heavy industrial plant and equipment.

Key Position Requirements:

• Proven maintenance, breakdown and installation fitting skills and experience associated with a heavy manufacturing or similar operation
• Demonstrated exposure to working on a wide range of equipment including pumps, valves, pipelines, motors, gearboxes, boilers, turbines and conveyor systems
• Sound problem troubleshooting and solving skills
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Demonstrated understanding and capacity to adhere to site Workplace Health & Safety requirements including completing Risk Assessments and following Safe Work Procedures
• Trades qualifications in Fitting Machining/Turning
