Joining the engineering team at NSW Sugar Milling Co-operative represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to combine a developing career with the enviable lifestyle of the NSW Far North Coast.

Employing in excess of 400 staff across three major sites, the Co-operative is a leader in the production of sugar for the Australian market and is at the forefront of producing renewable energy.

An excellent opportunity is currently available for a highly capable and versatile Engineer at their Broadwater Mill site, located approximately 20 km south of the popular coastal centre of Ballina. The site incorporates sugar milling operations, along with a newly constructed state-of-the-art 30 Megawatt Co-generation plant.

Reporting directly to the site Second Engineer, this newly created autonomous position involves playing a leading role with ensuring all maintenance work is executed efficiently by providing scoped maintenance work plans and schedules. This includes organizing materials and equipment and isolations lists associated with the work plan.  In addition, carrying out investigations into plant and equipment failures, along with rectifying findings from the application of Root Cause Analysis techniques also forms an important part of the role.

Key Position Requirements:

• Proven skills and experience associated with undertaking maintenance planning and scheduling functions associated with a heavy manufacturing or similar operation, including the ability to develop and maintain a Preventative Maintenance (PM) system
• Demonstrated working knowledge of maintenance and defect elimination strategies and techniques such as Reliability Centred Maintenance strategies and Root Cause Analysis techniques
• High level technical problem solving skills, including the ability to lead investigations into plant and equipment failures
• Excellent communication and liaison skills
• Demonstrated understanding and capacity to adhere to Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental requirements in the workplace
• Effective organisational and time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems and Excel spreadsheets
• Relevant Engineering Degree or Trade and/or Post Trade qualifications

Key Desirable Requirements:

• Qualifications in the Maintenance Management field

This position may suit a Mechanical or Electrical tradesperson who has specialised in the Reliability Engineering and/or Maintenance Planning field.

Broadwater Mill is ideally situated in close proximity to the popular coastal locations of Ballina and Evans Head, which feature pristine beaches and river locations. The regional centre of Lismore is a 30 minutes drive away and the Gold Coast and Brisbane, up to 2.5 hours.
